The Electrical Controls Engineer designs, develops, and commissions electrical and automatic control systems for industrial machinery based on customer specifications and in accordance with engineering principles, international regulations, and standards. The engineer implements complex algorithms for the design and development of control programs, system identification, and/or signal processing
Education: Bachelor´s degree in engineering or Science.
Certifications/Courses: Training in Engineering Management, Product Management, or Automation (preferred).
Advanced practical experience with Eplan software.
Language: Advanced English (required).
Passport and Visa – Required.
Availability to travel: Mexico and the USA.
3 to 5 years of experience in electrical control design for industrial automation.
Design and development of complex control applications.
Knowledge of electrical and safety standards for industrial machinery.
Focus on programming semi-automatic and automatic processes.
Definition of control architectures, electrical cabinet design, and component selection.
Experience programming motion components (motors, servos, cylinders, etc.) and sensing components (encoders, sensors, vision cameras).
Programming HMIs and PLCs (Siemens and Allen-Bradley).
Configuration of control networks and devices, and development and interpretation of electrical schematics.
Full ability to interpret technical specifications and requirements for industrial environments, size electrical systems, and select control equipment according to technical requirements.
Knowledge of electrical control design standards and electrical regulations, including NFPA 79 and ANSI/RIA standards.
Designs industrial electrical control systems in accordance with industry standards and with a focus on meeting the customer’s minimum specifications.
Designs industrial control architectures, selects the appropriate communication protocols and equipment, and determines the programming languages required to code, program, or configure the equipment.
Develops code for programmable controllers, configures vision systems, and develops human-machine interface (HMI) applications. Creates standards and templates to reduce programming time.
Identifies failure modes and incorporates preventive and corrective actions into the design of electrical and control systems. Conducts risk and safety assessments.
Validates, commissions, and tests the equipment and solutions manufactured by the company. Participates in quality assurance activities. Collaborates with manufacturing personnel and/or customers to resolve problems, identify future opportunities, or develop new solutions.
Analyzes and understands the manufacturing process covered by the project, as well as customer data and requirements, to provide the appropriate solution. Participates in the ideation, conceptualization, cost estimation, and definition of the company’s business offerings related to the engineer’s area of expertise.
